In line with the Deutsche Mechatronics profile, our company is expanding its range of services with Prontor and Control Mechatronics. Karlheinz Sossenheimer proudly comments on the purchase of both specialist companies: “We are constantly working on innovations and expanding our product range. With the purchase of these two strong companies, we are securing the future of the Mechernich location." For Sossenheimer, the central focus is the client, for whom he wants to offer a one-stop-shop. The service provider for mechatronic systems offers the client application-oriented research, design, production and assembly. “For the client, this means an enormous saving in costs, not only in production, but also in the actual development of new products”, he explains. With a staff of around 770 and annual turnover of 130 million euros, the international systems supplier is one of the biggest employers in the Eifel region. Out of the old basement workshop has grown one of the most modern manufacturing centres in Germany, where up to 50 tonnes of copper, steel, stainless steel and aluminium sheet metal is processed each day. The company is seen as the first port of call in German industry to its clients, one being the engine manufacturer MTU, which uses components from Mechernich in aircraft. The Mechernich company plans further expansion in the future. “We need to assert our position on the global market and continue to improve on our expertise”, says Sossenheimer. In his speech at the company’s jubilee, he left no room for doubt about Mechernich’s position. Sossenheimer believes that the strengths of the group of companies lie in the excellent training of his staff and the relationship with customers, which will enable it to offer innovative total solutions to its customers also for the next 60 years.
