Avoiding redundancies and having customised system control can help to save costs / Cost savings potential in the region of double figures Mechernich, 30 July 2007 – “Strong teams have a good team leader” - in line with this principle, Deutsche Mechatronics GmbH has now developed the new Microcontroller board XAM-VAN, which will be used from September as an innovative solution for efficient control in different fields of application. The advantage of this solution stems from high-level functional integration. Control systems can be optimally coordinated to the job in hand, using microcontrollers and signal pre-processing functions. This means that only as much functionality as is actually required is used for the operations of processes and installations. What's more, integration on the board reduces space requirements, as well as power supply and cooling requirements. Consequently, there is potential for cost saving which, according to calculations by the company on a complete system, can amount to a high double-digit percentage. This was possible through the complete redevelopment of a circuit board, from which all superfluous elements were removed. The development was the result of an extensive analysis of existing systems and the establishment of a clear profile of requirements.
