The award ceremony for the German Material Efficiency Prize 2007 took place at the EuroMold Fair in Frankfurt. All of the key players were assembled at EuroMold, drawn by the key concept: “From the design stage to the prototype and series production.”
Dr. Rainer Jäkel, Undersecretary at the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, emphasized the importance of using materials efficiently, especially for an industrial country lacking in raw materials. The cost of materials for the processing industries alone comes to around 650 billion euros.
This year, Deutsche Mechatronics earned itself recognition for its introduction of a materials-saving processing technology:
Deutsche Mechatronics processes up to 40 tonnes of sheet metal daily to fill customer orders for a wide range of component parts. By using the dynamic nesting process, they were able to reduce the amount of waste considerably. The result: 12% less material needed.
